The Depot

Nelson Development and Construction completed the development of the The Depot, a four-story office building in West Des Moines, Iowa.  The Depot is located on the premier corridor in the western suburbs.  At four-stories in height, it is the tallest office building on the Jordan Creek corridor and will be a landmark for people traveling the area.  The building is constructed of class “A” materials that include granite, brick, and steel.  The large perimeter windows, ten foot ceilings, and location make this the most attractive building in the area.

The planned unit development was framed around a depot concept relating to the proximity of a nearby rail line.  The buildings within this development incorporate design elements from several examples of Depot Architecture from the early 1900’s.  This design concept lead to the large arched windows and a strong statement of structural elements.
